Oman’s total refinery output rises by 9.9%

Muscat: The total output of refineries in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a growth of 9.9 percent until the end of September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The production of car fuels also increased by 6.5 percent in September compared to August 2025.

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the production of regular 91 octane gasoline increased by 16.4 percent to reach 12,736,300 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 10,944,800 barrels during the same period in 2024. Sales also increased by 1.5 percent, reaching 10,667,600 barrels compared to 10,505,100 barrels by the end of September 2024. Meanwhile, exports decreased by 21.1 percent to reach 1,925,100 barrels compared to 2,438,500 barrels by the end of September 2024.

While the production of premium 95 car fuel recorded an increase of 20.2 percent to reach 10.59 million by the end of September 2025 compared to 8.81 million barrels during the same period of 2024, its sales increased by 1.4 percent to reach 10.10 million barrels by the end of September 2025 compared to 9.96 million the end of September 2024. Its exports achieved a growth of 117 percent to reach 1.24 million barrels by the end of September 2025 compared to 572,800 barrels in the same period of last year.

Gas oil (diesel) production also increased by 9.7 percent by the end of September 2025 reaching 25,473,500 barrels compared to 23,227,300 barrels by the end of September 2024. Sales also increased by 6.2 percent to reach 11,203,300 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 10,550,900 barrels in the same period last year. Exports also increased by 6.1 percent to 13,396,600 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 12,625,600 barrels by the end of September 2024.

In contrast, jet fuel production decreased by 9.2 percent by the end of September 2025 to reach 7,757,500 barrels compared to 8,546,000 barrels in the same period of 2024. Sales also decreased by 4.9 percent by the end of September 2025 to reach 2,892,900 barrels compared to 3,043,100 barrels last year. Exports also decreased by 12.5 percent to reach 4,590,300 by the end of September 2025barrels compared to 5,244,900 barrels at the end of September 2024.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production also witnessed an increase of 11.4 percent, reaching 5,752,000 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 5,164,200 barrels during the same period in 2024. Sales also rose by 20.2 percent, reaching 2,808,100 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 2,336,300 barrels during the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, exports declined by 45.5 percent, reaching 167,300 barrels by the end of September 2025, compared to 306,800 barrels by the end of September 2024.

Regarding petrochemicals, statistics showed that benzene production increased by 5.2 percent, reaching 137,700 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025, compared to 130,900 metric tonnes in the same period of 2024. Paraxylene production also saw a growth of 5.8 percent, reaching 456,500 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025, compared to 431,400 metric tonnes by the end of September 2024.

Polypropylene recorded the largest growth in production at 91.4 percent, reaching 262,700 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025 compared to 137,200 metric tonnes during the same period last year. However, its sales declined by 2.7 percent to 23,200 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025 compared to 23,800 metric tonnes in the same period last year.

On the export side, benzene exports increased by 5.6 percent by the end of September 2025 to reach 137,000 metric tonnes compared to 129,700 metric tonnes by the end of September 2024. Paraxylene recorded a remarkable growth of 12.7 percent to reach 488,900 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025 compared to 433,900 metric tonnes in the same period last year. Polypropylene exports also recorded a significant growth of 79.2 percent to reach 189,500 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025 compared to 105,800 metric tonnes in the same period of 2024.
