Muscat: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Oman successfully hosted the concert “A Journey of Korean Strings in Muscat” on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Bait Al Zubair Museum.
The event featured renowned Korean haegeum player Ms. Nalsae Shin, joined by pianist Mr. Park Sehwan and cellist Ms. Choi Jungwook.
Together, they presented a diverse repertoire ranging from traditional Korean melodies to contemporary popular songs.
Through their exquisite performance, the audience experienced a captivating harmony that bridged Korean and international musical expressions.
A Night That Bridged Two Cultures
The one-hour concert attracted a large audience, including members of the diplomatic community, local cultural figures, and music enthusiasts.
Listeners were deeply moved by the haegeum’s soulful sound — often compared to the human voice — and by its delicate dialogue with the piano and cello.
Many attendees expressed admiration for the instrument’s emotional depth, describing the performance as “a beautiful encounter of tradition and modernity.”
A Step Toward Deeper Cultural Understanding
The Embassy noted that the concert was part of its ongoing efforts to promote mutual understanding and friendship between Korea and Oman through cultural exchange.
By introducing the haegeum — a two-stringed traditional Korean instrument known for its expressive tone — the Embassy sought to share a distinctive aspect of Korea’s artistic heritage with the Omani public. /End/
