Interior Minister discusses joint security cooperation with Bahraini counterpart

Manama: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, met today in Manama with General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting comes as part of the Interior Minister’s official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance joint security cooperation and exchange expertise in security fields, in addition to discussing regional developments of mutual concern and ways to unify efforts to confront security challenges in the region.

The two Ministers affirmed that the existing cooperation between the Ministries of Interior in the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries and reflects the mutual commitment to enhancing security and stability in the region.

Both sides also stressed the importance of continuing the exchange of expertise and joint training, and developing coordination mechanisms between the security agencies to face all challenges.

Separately, a formal session of talks was held between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The session was chaired on the Omani side by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, and on the Bahraini side by General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

During the session, the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries were reviewed, and ways to enhance cooperation and develop bilateral security coordination programs were discussed. They also looked into building upon the achievements in security cooperation, which contributes to improving performance in confronting security challenges and rapid changes on the regional and international arenas.

The two Ministers emphasized the importance of continuing joint coordination to enhance security and stability and serve the common interests of the two countries.

The meeting and the session were attended on the Omani side by Maj. Gen Abdullah Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, and Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman’s to the Kingdom of Bahrain. On the Bahraini side, attendees included Lt. General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior of Bahrain, Lt. General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, and a number of officials from both sides.
