
Muscat: Al Shabab and Al Seeb football clubs kicked off their campaigns in the 2025–2026 AFC Challenge League with well-deserved victories over Bhutan’s Paro FC and Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings, respectively.
In Group A, Al Shabab managed to defeat Paro FC 1–0 in a match held on Saturday at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu. The winning goal was scored by Kenyan Markineh from a penalty in the 26th minute.
In Group B, Al Seeb Club earned a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Bashundhara Kings in a thrilling encounter played at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.
Al Seeb’s goals were scored by Nasser Al-Rawahi in the 7th minute, Zahir Al-Aghbari in the 60th, and Abdulaziz Al-Muqbali in the 77th minute.
The West Zone quarterfinal spots will be awarded to the group winners and the best second-placed team among the three groups.
