Muscat: Oman Broadband Company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Al Bandar Development Company to strengthen the Sultanate of Oman’s digital infrastructure and deliver innovative smart solutions for future projects.
The signing ceremony took place during the Al Omran, Home and Building Exhibition and Conference, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Broadband Company, and Eng. Wasama bin Nasser Al Harbi, CEO of Al Bandar Development Company.
Under the agreement, Oman Broadband will provide fibre optic network services for Al Bandar Development’s projects, including the Al Qurm project and future developments, in addition to offering advanced smart solutions. The network will remain open-access, ensuring that all licensed operators can benefit from it rather than being limited to a single provider.
Eng. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Wahaibi said: “This agreement marks a strategic step towards strengthening Oman’s digital infrastructure and enabling future projects to benefit from fibre networks and smart solutions. It also reaffirms Oman Broadband’s commitment to fostering a competitive environment open to all operators, which will positively impact the quality of digital services for consumers and support the Sultanate’s digital transformation journey.”
Eng. Wasama bin Nasser Al Harbi added: “Al Bandar Development is proud to partner with Oman Broadband to leverage its advanced digital infrastructure for our projects. This collaboration allows us to deliver smart solutions and a state-of-the-art fibre network, while maintaining open cooperation with all operators. Together, we aim to enhance the telecommunications sector and support our future projects in Oman.”
This partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing digital transformation in the Sultanate of Oman, enhancing competition within the telecommunications sector, and developing an integrated, high-quality infrastructure that benefits all operators, citizens, and residents alike.
