"From Stamp to Envelope" exhibition opens at the National Museum

Muscat: The National Museum today opened an exhibition titled "From Stamp to Envelope: A Nation's Narrative Sealed by Post." The exhibition, which runs until 16 October, is a collaboration with Oman Post.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng. Ibrahim Said Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of stamps, ranging from rare stamps issued in the 1960s that documented Oman’s first oil exports to the latest issues celebrating the blessed renaissance and the renewed renaissance era in education, health, environment, and diplomatic relations under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The latest commemorative issue for 2025 is also on display, celebrating the 280th anniversary of the Al Busaid dynasty’s rule, which continues to this day.

The exhibition also traces postal issues that documented important stages in the transportation sector and celebrates Islamic religious rituals and occasions. In the international celebrations section, there are displays that highlight Oman's ties with several countries, including the Sultanate of Zanzibar, its sultans, and some of its architectural landmarks, celebrating common interests that reflect its historic relations with Oman and the strong bonds that have existed since the 19th century. The exhibition also includes a stamp issued to commemorate Oman’s accession to the United Nations, in addition to issues that affirm relations of cooperation and friendship with various nations.
