A’Rustaq Hospital Blood Bank records increase in donors during H1 of 2025

A’Rustaq: The Blood Bank at A’Rustaq Hospital in South Al Batinah Governorate recorded a notable increase in blood donors during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The total number of donors from January to June 2025 reached 2,201, reflecting an increase of 176 donors over the same period in 2024, which recorded 2,025 donors.

Statistics released by the Blood Bank indicate that male donors numbered 2,021, while female donors totaled 180 in 2025. The data shows that Omani nationals led the donor list with 1,974 donors, while non-Omani donors accounted for 227.

In comparison with 2024 figures, male donors numbered 1,841 and female donors 178, while Omani national donors reached 1,850 and non-Omani donors 169. These numbers reflect increased awareness efforts and donation campaigns organized by the hospital in cooperation with various entities.

External donation campaigns played a vital role in achieving these numbers, with 10 campaigns organized across various wilayats of South Al Batinah Governorate during the first half of 2025, compared to 8 campaigns during the same period in 2024. This expansion helped broaden the donor base and facilitate the donation process for citizens and residents. The report notes that 239 individuals presented themselves for donation in 2025 but were deferred or rejected for health or social reasons, compared to 178 in 2024.

Regarding blood types, O+ was the most donated blood type, followed by A+.
