GCC Forum for Green Mobility to begin on 31 August

Salalah: The GCC Forum for Green Mobility will begin on 31 August 2025 in the Wilayat of Salalah, the Governorate of Dhofar. The forum will bring together specialists and experts from across the GCC countries with the goal of promoting environmental sustainability in the transport sector and encouraging the use of clean, alternative modes of transport.

Organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the forum aims to foster an exchange of experiences and expertise among GCC nations in sustainable transport and environmentally friendly technologies. It will also highlight key policies and initiatives that contribute to achieving net-zero goals and reducing carbon emissions in the transport sector.

The forum's activities commenced with a virtual GCC workshop organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in cooperation with the GCC General Secretariat. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait participated to develop practical outputs and joint implementation mechanisms that support the transition to sustainable mobility and enhance environmental and economic integration in the region.

As part of the accompanying events, Dhofar Governorate will host sports and awareness activities for children on 15-16 August. These will include a marathon and a dedicated cycling track, all in a safe environment under the supervision of specialists. The aim is to instill a culture of green mobility from a young age and promote awareness of healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

A series of specialized workshops will precede the main forum, most notably the "Gulf Youth Lead Change" workshop, held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, and the "Green Corridors for Gulf Ports" workshop. The event will also feature the signing of several agreements that will pave the way for strategic partnerships in the field of green transport.
