Arab League lauds Oman’s efforts in achieving Yemen ceasefire agreement

Cairo: The Arab League has commended the diplomatic efforts and mediation by the Sultanate of Oman, which contributed to reaching a ceasefire agreement in Yemen, alongside the efforts of the United States.

The General Secretariat of the Arab League stated that it hopes the agreement will alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, reduce current military escalation, and support ongoing diplomatic efforts to halt Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, as well as address other critical regional issues.

It also emphasised the importance of restoring maritime security in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait while ensuring the smooth flow of international commercial shipping through regional waters and passages.

The General Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to the decisions of the Arab League Council in supporting Yemen’s legitimate government and the measures it takes to preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.
