Muscat: A partial collapse of a treated water collection basin at the Nizwa sewage treatment plant has caused significant flooding at the Friday Market, damaging vendors' goods. Nama Water Services has issued an apology and a clarification statement regarding the incident.
The overflow, caused by a breach in the embankment of the collection pond, resulted in water flowing into Wadi Kalbu. Nama Water Services has activated an emergency response plan and is coordinating with relevant authorities and field teams to manage the situation.
A specialized committee has been formed in cooperation with the governor's office to assess and evaluate the damages caused by the flooding. The company assures that the treated water meets approved standards and is used for irrigation and other purposes. They also stated they are working on a new pipeline to utilize this water for larger development projects in the region. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
