Winter camps boost tourism in South Al Batinah
Al Rustaq: The number of winter camps and cabins registered with the Municipality Department in South Al Batinah amounted to 220 in different wilayats. 150 camps are located in Barka, 54 camps in Nakhal, 10 camps in the Wilayat of Mussanah and 6 camps in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq.
These camps were erected in October 2024 and will continue until the end of March of the current year.
Hilal Ahmed Al Felaiti , Director of the Municipality in Barka, said that the camps encourage investment in tourism and push both citizens and residents to explore the various areas of the governorate.
To own a camp, the applicant should be Omani who shall abide by the area set forth in the permit for the camp , must observe the cleanliness of the area and dispose of the waste at the designated area among other conditions and terms, he added.
Yousra bint Yasser Al Mamari, owner of one of the winter camps, said that the camps represent a new advantage for the economy, SMEs and individuals with limited income. The winter camps contribute to enhancement of tourism within Oman and offer additional source of income to the families and owners of SMEs, she added.
