Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology today began implementing a project to survey the contribution of digital economy to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The project will run until May 2025.
The project seeks to measure the added value of “the communications and information technology sector” and the added value of “activities of financial and insurance services that are provided only digitally”.
The survey targets establishments operating in the communications and information technology sector (large, medium, small, and micro) and activities of financial and insurance services that are provided digitally.
The target segment comprises about 1,300 establishments in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The survey will focus on the data of these establishments during 2023 as its core reference indicator.
