Oman registers a surplus trade balance of OMR6.063 billon

MUSCAT: The trade balance of the Sultanate of Oman registered a surplus of OMR6.063 billon by end of September 2024 compared to a surplus of OMR5.611billion during the same period in 2023.

The initial statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) pointed out to that the value of exports of goods registered OMR18.611 billon by end of September 2024, an increase of 10% against the same period of last year wherein it amounted to OMR16.950 billion.

The value of goods imported amounted to OMR 12.178bn, an increase of 10.9 % compared to the same period of last year in which it amounted to OMR 10.979 billon.

The increase in the value of exports is basically due to the increase of the value of Oman’s exports of oil and gas up to September 2024 to OMR 12.406 billion, an increase of 21.5 % against September 2023 wherein it amounted to OMR10.213 billion.

The value of exports of crude oil amounted to OMR7. 610 billion, an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period in 2023.

The value of exports of refined oil increased to OMR2.975 billion, an increase of 151.6 % and the value of exports of LNG decreased by 7% to OMR 1. 822 billon compared to end of September 2023.

The statistics showed that the decrease in the value of non-oil goods decreased by 14.1 by end of September 2024 to reach OMR 4.534 billion compared to end of September 2023 when it reached OMR5.276 billion.

The value of metal products amounted to OMR1.307 billion, a decrease of 27.3% compared to the same period in 2023.

The value of chemical  industries products decreased by 25. 1% to OMR575 million.

On the imports of goods, the value of metal products amounted to 3. 470 million by end of September 2024, an increase of 16.4%.

UAE topped the list in exchange of trade in non-oil products up to end of September by the value of OMR 737 million , an increase of OMR 14.1% by end of September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

KSA came second in terms of non-oil Omani exports by OMR 602 million followed by South Korea by OMR 515 million.

Iran came second in terms of re-export from Oman by OMR247 million, followed

by Kuwait by OMR99 million while China came second in the countries exporting to Oman by OMR 1.294 billion followed by Kuwait by OMR 1.230 billion.
