University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al Mussanah Hosts H.E the Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit

Muscat: On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the UTAS in Al Mussanah welcomed H.E Dr. Khamis bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Jabri, Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit with the presence of Dr. Saeed Hamad Al-Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University. This meeting aims to introduce Oman Vision 2040, its pillars, priorities, and strategic objectives, along with national and international performance indicators.

The event opened with a speech by Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al Baimani, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Al Mussanah Branch. He stated, "Through this meeting, the university seeks to add further knowledge that will help shape strategies to enhance the education system, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It also aims to instill the values of identity and citizenship rooted in Islamic teachings and Omani customs and traditions." The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has been established as part of the directives set by Oman Vision.

The program included a presentation about the university’s vision, mission, objectives, and academic departments. H.E Dr. Al Jabri then presented a briefing on Oman Vision 2040, emphasizing the development of a high-quality education system based on community partnership and independent governance. This development includes updating curricula to reinforce religious values and Omani identity, sustainable development, and future- skills. Regarding, scientific research and innovation, Oman Vision 2040 aims to build a national system that supports creativity and knowledge-based economy.

The meeting also featured a panel discussion with H.E, moderated by Dr. Munia bint Mohammed Al Farsi, Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor for E-Systems and Student Services, and Mr. Talib bin Hamoud Al Balushi, Head of the Communication and Media Department. The discussion addressed issues and aspirations related to education and scientific research.

The meeting concluded with H.E Dr. Al Jabri's visit to the exhibition of student projects and innovations. This event aimed to shed light on aspects related to education, scientific research, and national capacity development, reflecting Oman Vision 2040’s goal of establishing an integrated education system with competitive national capabilities.
