Added value of private enterprises in Oman exceeds OMR8.5 billion

Muscat: The added value of active private enterprises operating in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to about OMR8.528 billion by the end of the second quarter of 2024, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The contribution of active enterprises to the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices amounted to about 81 percent for the second quarter of 2024 compared to 81.5 percent during the second quarter of 2023.

The added value of large enterprises at the end of the second quarter of this year increased by 4 percent to OMR6.38 billion compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The added value of medium enterprises amounted to OMR642.90 million, while the added value of small enterprises reached OMR673.30 million.

The total added value of small enterprises increased by 1.9 percent to OMR832 million.

It is worth noting that the number of workers in private enterprises actually operating in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 0.5 percent by the end of the second quarter of 2024, to 1,781,643 workers compared to 1,772,582 workers during the second quarter of 2023.

The NCSI data further revealed that the number of enterprises in Oman reached 252,312 by the second quarter of 2024, an increase of 10.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023. — ONA
