Over 160 violations monitored in Oman's telecommunications sector during 2022

Muscat: More than 160 violations were monitored in the telecommunications sector during 2022, and fines exceed half a million Omani Riyals.

Today, Sunday, May 21, 2023, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, (TRA), revealed the violations of the telecommunications sector monitored in 2022, amounted to more than 167 violations.

The Authority said that the violations were distributed among postal services with 23 violations, frequency spectrum with 54 violations, and telecommunications with 90 violations.

Additionally, the Authority stated that the fines for violations amounted to OMR 608,576, where the most prominent violations were:

- Non-compliance with Omanisation percentages

- Non-compliance with the terms of the licence

- Assigning Etisalat numbers without proof of identity

- Unapproved tariff

- Refusal to transfer Etisalat number
