Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,767.37 points, down by 0.02 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.00 per cent at 478.46 points. Al Hassan Engineering, up 14.29 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Fisheries, down 7.53 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank Oman were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 591 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.87 million, with more than 10.95 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded securities, 16 advanced, 11 declined, and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR418,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR266,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR152,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,654.47 points, up 0.11 per cent. Prices of National Bank Oman, Oman Arab Bank, Oman Qatar Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment and Global Financial Investments were up by 6.34 per cent, 5.83 per cent, 5.59 per cent, 3.85 per cent and 1.75 per cent respectively. Prices of HSBC Bank Oman, United Finance and Ominvest were up by 4.32 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,159.23 points, down 0.4 per cent. Prices of Al Hassan Engineering, Voltamp Energy, Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel Products and Raysut Cement were up by 14.29 per cent, 3.18 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Oman Flour Mills and Oman Refreshment were up by 7.53 per cent, 3.97 per cent and 3.57 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.05 per cent before closing at 1,684.23 points. Prices of Phoenix Power, Musandam Power, OIFC and Abraj Energy were up by 5.56 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 0.84 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, Muscat Desalination, Renaissance Services and Salalah Port Services were up by 3.23 per cent, 1.03 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.
