
Muscat: The use of external loudspeakers in mosques is limited to the call to prayer in the Sultanate of Oman. An administrative fine not exceeding OMR 1,000 may be imposed in the event of violating the provisions of the Mosques Regulations.
Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed bin Khalfan Al-Maamari issued Ministerial Resolution No. 181/2023 amending some provisions of the Mosques Regulations on Sunday.
The first article stipulates that the text of Article (39) of the aforementioned Regulations of Mosques be replaced with the following text: The use of external loudspeakers in mosques and chapels shall be limited to raising the call to prayer.
Article 3 also stipulates that a new article No. (56) shall be added to the aforementioned list of mosques, the text of which shall be as follows: An administrative fine not exceeding OMR 1000 may be imposed in case of violation of the provisions of this regulation.
