Muscat: An administrative fine of OMR 1,500 was imposed against two commercial establishments for selling counterfeit goods in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
"The Consumer Protection Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate raided two commercial establishments that offered and sold counterfeit goods, during the periodic inspection visits carried out by the Department in various markets, shops and commercial centres with the aim of monitoring and regulating them," Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), said in a statement.
The judicial control officers carry out periodic inspections at the shops and commercial centres to follow up the implementation of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations and the decisions issued in this regard, it was discovered that two commercial establishments sold and displayed goods that do not contain explanatory data, and counterfeit and fraudulent goods. As a result, the violating goods were seized and legal measures were taken in this regard.
Accordingly, administrative fines of OMR 1,500 was imposed on violating institutions, for violating the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations.
The Consumer Protection Authority affirms that it will spare no effort to intensify monitoring of the markets and control everything that may harm the health and safety of the consumer, and to take legal measures against violators. It also calls on consumers to report any abuses they may notice in the markets through the authority’s various communication channels.
