Muscat: More than 75 falajs, affected by tropical condition Shaheen have been rehabilitated and are being maintained by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate.
"The Directorate General of Agriculture , Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, represented by the Water Resources Department, has completed the maintenance and rehabilitation of 78 falajs in a number of wilayats of the governorate, while work is currently underway to maintain and rehabilitate 20 falajs," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.
Eng Mohammed bin Ali Al Esai, Head of Dams, falajs and Protection Walls Department at the General Directorate of Agriculture , Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, said that tenders offered amounted to 98 projects, including the maintenance and rehabilitation of 96 falajs, in addition to the rehabilitation of two wells , indicating that work is underway to rehabilitate the other falajs.
