Muscat: Families without a roof over their heads will now be able to live in comfortable houses, thanks to Dar Al Atta’a’s (DAA’s) Family Welfare Programme, which has supported five families registered with the organisation.
An amount of OMR147,850 that was used towards helping five families in Oman has been spent in buying a flat worth OMR33,000 in the Al Seeb area, and another one worth OMR30,000 in Al Amerat. Besides these, three houses were built in Al Mabela costing OMR84,850.
A beneficiary, who was given a flat in Al Amerat, to provide shelter for her and her four children expressed happiness by thanking the association for this Ramadan present, where she can now live in peace after her long struggle with life when her husband went to prison.
Funds raised by DAA’s “Big Give Competition (2012-13) batch” participants also contributed towards the building of houses in Al Mabela. DAA’s Family Welfare Programme has since inception built almost 60 houses, and renovated over 350.
Those who want to benefit from the programme, can head straight to their office, register with the Family Welfare Department, and provide some documents after which an inspection team will study the case.
Currently, they have approximately 27 families on the waiting list, of which some are critical cases.
Meanwhile, DAA also organised a Qaranqasho event for children, along with the Hand-in-Hand initiative at Shangri-La’s Barr al Jissah Resort and Spa, where goodies and sweets were distributed among children.
