Duqm: Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD) and Oman Air yesterday began operating Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the Muscat-Duqm route.
This aircraft will fly the route every Sunday and Thursday while the route will be served by an Embraer 175 every Monday and Wednesday. Officials from SEZAD, Oman Air, Oman Airports Management and Royal Oman Police graced the inauguration. SEZAD is the supervising entity for the Muscat-Duqm route.
Flight number (WY3921), which landed at 9:30 am on Sunday morning at the Duqm Airport, made it possible to carry an additional 93 passengers coming from Muscat to Duqm, and 53 passengers on the return flight.
Mumtaz Al Balushi, Director of the Department of Administration and Services at SEZAD, expressed thanks to, and appreciation for, Oman Air, Oman Airports Management and the Royal Oman Police for their success in making the Boeing aircraft flight on the Muscat-Duqm
route possible.
“This step will reflect positively on the investment in SEZAD and on the citizens who regularly travel between Muscat and Duqm. SEZAD’s support for this route is part of the government’s plan to attract investment to SEZAD while also facilitating the movement of Duqm people and those from the rest of the Wilayats of Al-Wusta Province and other people working in SEZAD,” he added.
“The fact that Boeing planes would service the Muscat-Duqm route is in keeping with the pace of growth in the number of passenger to Duqm, including those working in SEZAD, residents, investors and tourists,” he added.
